Member Merge¶
Member merge is the act of merging two member records into one. Only members who enrolled in the same program are eligible for merging.
An account is eligible for a merge if someone enrolls in the same Program twice using different Loyalty IDs and accrues points in both the member accounts associated with those loyalty IDs. The Merge Member can be used to fuse these two accounts into one.
During the Member Merge, there are two types of members:
{{surv_mem}}¶
- The member that remains after the merge is completed.
{{vic_mem}}¶
- The member that no longer exists after the merge is completed.
There are two types of members configured in the program:
Individual Member¶
- A member gets added to the program with only one profile.
Group Member¶
- A group member added to the program can donate their earned points or rewards to different member (selected charities or a group of members like a Family) which gets reflected in Accrue To field in Loyalty ID tab.
If the {{surv_mem}} is an individual, then all {{vic_mem}}s must be individuals. If the {{surv_mem}} is a group type, then the {{vic_mem}}s must also be a group type member.
Member Merge Logic¶
How member records are merged.
- Merging combines records for the same individual within a program.
- Only members in the same program can be merged.
- Merge logic preserves activity history and loyalty IDs.
After the merge, the listed {{vic_mem}} details are updated to the {{surv_mem}}. The {{vic_mem}} no longer exists.

All the Accrual Items, available Balance, and expired points for the {{vic_mem}} are added to the {{surv_mem}}.
If the {{vic_mem}} has a tier level higher than the {{surv_mem}}, the tiers and tier level of the {{surv_mem}} requalify to the higher tier level. The "requalify tier activity" triggers the requalification for the {{surv_mem}}.
Note
A rule to requalify tier should exist in the program for updating the {{surv_mem}}'s tier level.
If Consider Merge an Activity in the the program options is true, a merge activity is also triggered for the {{surv_mem}}.
If the purse structure of the {{vic_mem}} has more purses than the {{surv_mem}}, then the purses that don't exist in the {{surv_mem}} are dynamically added.
Note
If the {{surv_mem}} has the same preference as the {{vic_mem}}, Then the preferences of the {{surv_mem}} are retained.
