Merging Member Accounts

Account merge is the act of merging two member records into one. Only members who enrolled in the same loyalty program are eligible for merging.

When members are merged, their balances are combined, and the higher tier levels are applied to the surviving account.

A member merge involves two accounts:

  • Primary Member – The account that remains after the merge is completed.
  • Secondary Member – The account that no longer exists after the merge is completed.

Before You Begin

Complete the Enrolling Members tutorial so you have two records to merge.

Search for the Account

  1. On the Member Search view, find the primary member account by searching for the member's name:

    Property Name Property Data
    First name Type Happy.
    Last name Type Member.
  2. Click Search. The Search Results section shows the member you added.

    Note

    If others in your company have completed this tutorial, you might find multiple records for Happy Member. In this case, you can type your email address or phone number in the Filter field in the top right to narrow the results. The Filter field can filter only on fields displayed in the list view.

  3. Click the row to open the Account Summary view.

Merge the Accounts

Now, you'll merge the Happy Member account with the anonymous account you created in the Enrolling Members tutorial. You'll need the random Loyalty ID you created.

  1. Click Merge Accounts. The Merge Accounts panel slides open on the right.
  2. In the search field, type or paste the random loyalty ID number you created.
  3. Click Search. The tile on the right shows the primary member information, Happy Member. The arrow shows the direction of the merge. The secondary account on the left, the anonymous account, will be deactivated in favor of the primary account. Happy Member will then have the loyalty ID number you created.
  4. Click Merge Accounts. All loyalty data is combined into the primary account.

To verify the merge was successful:

  1. Click Member Search in the upper left corner to return to the Member Search view.
  2. Type the Loyalty ID you created and originally assigned to the anonymous member.
  3. Click Search. Happy Member's account shows in the Search Results section.
  4. Click the row to open the Account Summary view.
  5. Click Merge History in the left navigation pane. The anonymous record you merged into Happy Member's account is listed.
