Export and Import Roles

You can export roles, edit the JSON file to change the names or permissions as needed, and import them. Refer to Role JSON Format for the file format.

Before you begin

  1. Expand Settings in the navigation pane.
  2. Click Security Setup. The Security Setup view opens.

Export Roles

You can export all roles at once, or you can export a single role:

  • To export all roles, click Export Roles. The roles are saved in your default downloads folder in a JSON file called All_Roles.json.
  • To export a single role, click the Export Role icon ( ) in the Actions column. The role is saved in your default downloads folder as a JSON file.

Import Roles

To import one or more roles in JSON format:

  1. Click Import Roles. The Import Roles dialog box opens.
  2. Click Browse to select the JSON file you want to import.
  3. Click OK.
