Creating Tutorial Resources

To complete the tutorials, you'll need to create the following resources in RCX:

  • a loyalty program: Acme Pet Loyalty Rewards
  • three products: pet-food, pet-collar1, and pet-leash1
  • two reward policies: BOGO Pet Food and Mix & Match Collar-Leash

Creating the Program

You can choose any name for the loyalty program. For this tutorial, we're using Acme Pet Loyalty Rewards.

To create the loyalty program:

  1. Click Programs in the nav pane.
  2. Click Add Loyalty Program.
  3. Type the Loyalty Program name: Acme Pet Loyalty Rewards or another name of your choosing.
  4. Click OK.

Creating the Products

You can create actual products or fictitious ones. For this tutorial, we're creating pet-food, pet-collar1, and pet-leash1.

To create the products:

  1. Expand Reference Data.
  2. Click Products.
  3. Click Add Product.

  4. Fill in the fields as described:

    Field Name Value
    Product SKU pet-food
    Name Yummy Pet Food

  5. Click OK.

  6. Create another product with the following field values:

    Field Name Value
    Product SKU pet-leash1
    Name Heavy-duty Pet Leash

  7. Click OK.

  8. Create another product with the following field values:

    Field Name Value
    Product SKU pet-collar1
    Name Heavy-duty Pet Collar

  9. Click OK.

Creating the Reward Policies

For this tutorial, we're creating policies called BOGO Pet Food and Mix & Match Collar-Leash. Feel free to choose names that suit you.

To create the first reward policy:

  1. Expand Programs in the nav pane.
  2. Expand Acme Pet Loyalty Rewards.
  3. Click Policies.
  4. Click Add Reward Policy.

  5. Type or select the values for the following fields:

    Tab Field Value
    General Name BOGO Pet Food
    General Expiration Date a date in the future
    Discounts Discount UPC 00000000000009
    Discounts Discount Type BOGO
    Discounts Value 50

  6. Click the Details tab.

  7. Click the ellipsis beside the Add Mandatory Products field.
  8. Set the toggle for Disable this product group to No.
  9. Click Search. The Advanced Search dialog box opens.
  10. Type pet-food in the SKU field and click OK.
  11. Set the Quantity to 1.
  12. Click the ellipsis beside the Add Primary Products field.
  13. Set the toggle for Disable this product group to No.
  14. Click Search. The Advanced Search dialog box opens.
  15. Type pet-food in the SKU field.
  16. Click OK. The Quantity field is pre-set to 2 and can't be changed.
  17. Click OK on the Reward Policy dialog box.

To create a second reward policy:

  1. Click Add Reward Policy.

  2. Type or select the values for the following fields:

    Tab Field Value
    General Name Mix & Match Collar-Leash
    General Expiration Date a date in the future
    Discounts Discount UPC 00000000000004
    Discounts Discount Type Mix and Match
    Discounts Value 15

  3. Click the Details tab.

  4. Click the ellipsis beside the Add Mandatory Products field. The Product Filter dialog box opens.
  5. Set the toggle for Disable this product group to No.
  6. Click Search. The Advanced Search dialog box opens.
  7. Type pet-collar1 in the SKU field and click OK.
  8. Click OK on the Product Filter dialog box.
  9. Set the Quantity to 1.
  10. Click the ellipsis beside the Add Primary Products field. The Product Filter dialog box opens.
  11. Set the toggle for Disable this product group to No.
  12. Click Search. The Advanced Search dialog box opens.
  13. Type pet-leash1 in the SKU field and click OK.
  14. Click OK on the Product Filter dialog box.
  15. Set the Quantity to 1.
  16. Click OK on the Reward Policy dialog box.
